The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is a non-Government Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West of Western Australia.  SWAMS delivers a wide range of community programs and has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.

SWAMS is currently seeking to recruit a casual Registered Nurse to join our dynamic primary health care team. This is a casual on-call contract, with varied shifts within a Monday to Friday roster as required.

 Essential Criteria

  • Registered Nurse qualification, with at least three years’ experience in nursing
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people
  • A demonstrated understanding of the unique issues impacting upon the health of Aboriginal people
  • Experience, skills and knowledge in multidisciplinary teamwork and conflict management
  • Sound written, computer and communication skills
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills along with an ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Current Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Community or Aboriginal Health
  • Hold a current immunisation certificate
  • Venepuncture competency and currency of practice
  • Knowledge and expertise in the use of Communicare or similar clinical database system

All candidates must have a current WA Driver’s Licence, current AHPRA registration, and will be required to undertake a National Police Check and drug and alcohol screen prior to beginning employment.
