Remote Community Connector

Do you crave the opportunity to make a difference in your community? SWAMS is looking for two full-time Remote Community Connector to work as part of the National Disability Insurance Service (NDIS) Access team. The role aims to engage, inform and assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) pathway process through:

  • Enhancing community connection;
  • Provide education and information services to participants and the wider community; South West Region, Narrogin and Katanning
  • Maintain and ensure services fully meet NDIA quality standards;
  • Records management, reports, and administration.

Specific requirements of this position include but are not limited to;

Essential Criteria

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent under section 50(d) Equal Opportunity Act.
  • Must reside in the South West and have local knowledge about the community.
  • Ability to take direction, determine priorities and manage workloads in order to meet agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in the development of community projects.
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Current WA C or CA Class driver’s licence, with the ability to undertake outreach to the Greater Bunbury and South West regions.

Desirable Criteria

  • A certificate or tertiary qualification in Community Services, Disability Support Services or similar field.
  • Prior experience working in disability services, community services or similar field.
  • NDIS Police Clearance

All candidates must have a current COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate, current WA Driver’s License and will be required to undertake a NDIS Police Clearance prior to beginning employment. The preferred candidate will be required to provide a clear drug and alcohol screen prior to offer of employment. In addition to above award wages, Salary Sacrifice is available for the right candidate.
